Consultations

At Hope Fertility we understand that the consultation is key to ensuring that treatment is tailored to your unique circumstances and expectations. When you contact us to make your initial appointment, you may be asked a few questions to ensure that you are referred for a consultation with the appropriate specialist.

Gynaecology – Fertility Consultation
You will meet with one of our experienced Gynaecologists. In order to maximise the benefit of this consultation, it is a requirement that the female has an AMH Blood test and the male partner, if appropriate, has a semen analysis in advance of the consultation. These are the basic tests needed for any fertility assessment.

Urology – Fertility Consultation
You will meet with one of our experienced Urologists. In order to maximise the benefit of this consultation, it is a requirement that the female has an AMH Blood test and the male partner, if appropriate has a semen analysis in advance of the consultation. These are the basic tests needed for any fertility assessment.

Urology – Vasectomy Reversal Consultation
You will meet with one of our experienced Urologists. In order to maximise the benefit of this consultation, it is preferred that the female partner attends. For females over 35 years of age it is recommended that an AMH Blood test result is obtained prior to consultation. This will ensure that the appropriate treatment is identified.

Couples Fertility Consultation
A couple can have difficulty conceiving as a result of problems in one or both partners. In approximately one quarter of the couples who seek fertility advice, both partners have problems that may be affecting their fertility. In such situations there are advantages in assessing both partners together. Expert input from a Gynaecologist with a focus on the female partner’s problems and a Urologist’s expertise focussing on the male partner is vital to arrive at the right diagnoses and put in place an appropriate treatment plan that addresses the issues in both partners.

At Hope Fertility we can offer this joint expertise in a single clinic to provide you with clear information and to expedite your treatment.

Fertility Assessment Consultation
Our Fertility Assessment is a service designed to provide a full range of fertility tests which can highlight any potential problems or barriers to conceiving.

You will require to attend the clinic for two appointments. At the first appointment you will have an AMH blood test taken and then attend the clinic 1-2 weeks later for your assessment appointment. At this appointment you will be seen by a Fertility Nurse Specialist who will complete a full medical and social questionnaire, complete an ovarian scan, discuss your results and review your next steps.

Nurse Consultations
Once your treatment plan has been identified, you will be required to attend a Nurse Implications Consultation. This is an appointment which is attended by both the woman and the partner in which the specialist nurse discusses all of the implications of the proposed treatment and also provides an opportunity to further discuss any impending questions. If your treatment is IVF, ICSI or involves any donor treatment licensed by the HFEA, you will be required to complete formal consents during this consultation.

Counselling
Counselling appointments are arranged with an independent experienced counsellor as the need arises.
